Welcome to.This subreddit is devoted to Petscop, a webseries about an obscure PlayStation game developed around 1997 by a company called Garalina. The videos open with simple gameplay in which creatures known as 'pets' have to be captured in homes they were left in. A cheat code, however, reveals a hidden dimension to the game. It's being documented by a person presumably named Paul. Before getting into the subreddit, please read these.1: Be nice. I've been following Concluse a little bit in the off time of Petscop and I really appreciate the effort that's being put into it as a project.
I've been lightly following Concluse since its beginning. It seems like something that came about following Petscop's success and popularity. The lack of vertex jitter and smooth camera movements are telltale signs that this isn't a PS1 game. It's most likely done in Unity. It also has spelling errors throughout. The 'lore' feels shallow and a bit insensitive.
It alludes to the Sandy Hook shooting, and that the children that were murdered are now in this 'hell'.Overall the videos themselves feel dull and I have to really force myself to sit through them. The visuals are extremely hard to see, and most of the time there's no crucial narrative happening.I haven't had the patience to sit through episodes 9 or 10.Despite the feedback and lack of views, this guy keeps putting out more content. It's nice to see this kind of dedication to a personal project.6/10 - okay-ish Petscop clone. I'd have to disagree with this. It's true that Ben Drowned is the grandfather of this genre. But the timing of this content came two months after Night Mind's video on Petscop, which really boosted Petscop's popularity. The major difference between Ben Drowned and And Petscop/Concluse, is that Ben Drowned takes place in an already established IP(intellectual property), something that was not meant to be played in the way we see it played. It's something nostalgic and familiar being taken and twisted.
Petscop and Concluse are both fictional and don't have the context of a pre-existing IP.Ben Drowned also relies on narrative outside of just the youtube videos, which is what made it so unique and fascinating at its time. We had extensive journal entries as well as gameplay footage to demonstrate everything that we read.Petscop's narrative is self-contained, thanks to Paul's commentary, footnotes, and annotations. Concluse's narrative is also self-contained and doesn't rely on anything outside of youtube. The only real thing that Ben Drowned and Concluse have in common is the video format of longplay/walkthrough without any commentary in the footage. And well, the context of this entire conversation is that this was posted to the Petscop subreddit, so of course I'm going to compare it to Petscop.
